Stipe Miocic will make his first title defense against Alistair Overeem Saturday night in Cleveland at UFC 203, and he's confident that he will not be a transitional champion.
"It's business," Miocic said after an open workout. "I am going to go out there and do my job. I have trained super hard. I trained too hard to give it up."
Miocic will have the crowd behind him in his home state of Cleveland. Miocic won the title earlier this year after knocking out Fabricio Werdum at UFC 198.
Even though Miocic is confident, his opponent, Overeem, is 41-14 and Miocic knows he is dangerous.
"He's a veteran," Miocic said of Overeem. "He has fought the best in the world. He is very savvy. A great kickboxer and K1 and all that . He fought in Pride, big strong guy, he is good on the ground too. He is dangerous everywhere."
Still, Miocic says he will successfully defend his title.
"I am going to win," he said. "You'll find out when I get my hand raised how I did it."
