Rafael Cordeiro, head coach at Kings MMA, believes Fabricio Werdum is ready to challenge for heavyweight gold.
The Brazilian coach is confident that Werdum will defeat Travis Browne a second time in the co-main event of Saturday's UFC 203 in Cleveland.
"It's going to be a good fight," Cordeiro told Champions. "Travis is a tough guy. We respect the guy a lot, we've fought him before, but I believe Fabricio has a lot of weapons to beat him. We've worked hard before, and we're going to work hard again to beat him from the beginning to the end of the fight."
Cordeiro is unsure of who the UFC will deem worthy of a title shot next, but is sure Werdum is ready for the challenge and will be looking for gold once they get past Browne.
"We never know," Cordeiro said. "The UFC decides whats best for the fighters, but we believe, as a team, that Fabricio is ready for the title shot right after this fight. First of all Travis, but as soon as we pass Travis, we're going to look for the belt again."
Following the rematch between Werdum and Browne, newly-crowned heavyweight champion Stipe Miocic will be making his first title defense against Alistair Overeem. Cordeiro, who knows a thing or two about fighting, picked Overeem to win the bout, as he believes the Dutchman has more weapons than the champ.
"Heavyweight fights is really hard," Cordeiro explained. "For me it's 50-50. Whoever hits first is going to win. I believe Overeem has a little bit more weapons than Miocic, and it's hard to say, but if I have to choose someone, I'm going with Overeem"
