Ashlee Evans-Smith faced undefeated Veronica Macedo at UFC Fight Night Hamburg on Saturday and dominated the highly touted Macedo.
Evans-Smith secured a third round TKO.
“I feel happy,” Evans-Smith said during her post-fight interview. “I was surprised by her movement. She knew I was going to come forward, and she angled well. I felt like in the second and third, I found my range. She’s young, but she’s good. I’m not surprised that she was undefeated. I wanted a first-round finish, but I guess I can’t be greedy.”
Evans-Smith easily won rounds one and two landing multiple takedowns and maintaining control throughout. She was never in much trouble, despite Macedo trying for two kneebars. Evans-Smith looked sharp and improved since her last win at UFC Fight Night 83.
It was the third round that finally saw Macedo in real trouble when Evans-Smith was able to capture the mount, making escape nearly impossible. Ashlee unloaded some brutal ground-and-pound, including multiple elbows that eventually sliced open her opponent's face, forcing the stoppage at 2:46.
