The Dragon lives on.
According to Deadline, a new crime drama based on original writings by Bruce Lee has been given a pilot order by Cinemax. The show, titled Warrior, is being executive produced by Fast & Furious director Justin Lin, who may also direct the pilot.
Deadline reports that Warrior will take place in the Chinatown neighborhood of San Francisco following the end of the Civil War. The series will follow a young martial artist from China who ends up in the middle of the violent Tong Wars, which were a series of bloody battles that occurred in the area between the 1880s and 1920s.
The pilot was written by the co-creator of Cinemax's hit series Banshee, Jonathan Tropper.
Lee had apparently spent quite a bit of time working on Warrior, however it was never put into production during his lifetime. The concept was a part of a collection of notes that his daughter Shannon discovered several years after his death in 1973.
The project is now coming together at Cinemax thanks to Shannon, who's brought the idea to the network last year after partnering up with Lin's Perfect Storm production company.
Hopefully this series won't be the only hidden gem to come out of Lee's collection.
