News broke Wednesday morning that matchmaker Joe Silva may be leaving the UFC.
It was later stated that he will stay on until the end of the year as a courtesy to the organization. There are no details on his reason for departure yet.
Silva's official title is Vice President for Talent Relations, but was commonly referred to as one of the UFC's most important matchmakers. He also dealt in scouting and contract negotiations. Joe has been with the promotion for 21 years.
He, along with Sean Shelby, matched UFC bouts.
The UFC was recently sold to WME-IMG, and question have arisen if he is leaving, at least in part, because of possible changes the new owners would like to implement.
Fans reacted quickly as the news surfaced.
The UFC has not officially announced his departure, and Silva himself has not commented.
