Submission specialist and former Bellator lightweight title challenger Marcin Held has signed with the UFC.
The news was announced by Held on Tuesday through his Twitter account.
Held fought for Bellator for about five years, compiling an impressive record of 11-3. The 24-year-old fighter last fought for promotion back in May at Bellator 155 where he avenged his loss to Dave Jansen by outpointing him in a three-round battle. Prior to that, Held challenged for lightweight gold at Bellator 145, but fell short, losing a unanimous decision to Will Brooks, who also joined the UFC roster earlier this year.
Despite his young age, the Polish prospect has an extensive record of 22-4 with notable victories over opponents such as Dave Jansen, Patricky Freire, Rich Clementi and Phillipe Nover. Held is also a decorated Brazilian jiu-jitsu black belt.
The UFC has yet to announce Held's promotional debut.
