Shane Carwin hasn't seen the inside of the octagon since 2011, but it looks like that might change soon.
Carwin hinted on his official Twitter account that a UFC fight announcement was coming soon.
A three-time NCAA Division II All American wrestler, Carwin went undefeated in eight MMA fights before signing with the UFC. He would go on to win three more before defeating Frank Mir via first round KO to become the Interim UFC Heavyweight Champion.
He suffered the first defeat of his professional career in his next fight, losing the title unification bout against Brock Lesnar. A neck surgery sidelined him for nearly a year after that fight, before he return to face Junior dos Santos at UFC 131, losing via decision. Just months after that, he would require yet another surgery. In July 2012, he was forced to drop out of a scheduled bout with Roy Nelson after injuring his knee.
In 2013, Carwin announced his retirement due to the extent of his injuries. He has hinted at a return several times before, but so far, nothing official has been announced.
