Benson Henderson and Patricio "Pitbull" Freire are set to headline Bellator 160 Friday night. The winner will get the next shot at lightweight champion Michael Chandler.
During Thursday's weigh-ins we saw the pair face off for the last time before their bout, but instead Scott Coker or matchmaker Rich Chu standing behind the men, the winner's future opponent stood there, belt in hand.
This idea is much like a WWE weigh-in and less like the typical MMA weigh-in, but I was in to it.
Watch the video below, plus the three fights you don't want to miss.
Three Fights You Don't Want to Miss
Benson Henderson vs. Patricio "Pitbull" Freire
This is the main event so OF COURSE you don't want to miss this... but here's why. Henderson has somethig to prove. He left the UFC only to fall in his Bellator debut meaning he really needs to win this one in order prove his worth.
Not only that but Freire is on the path to avenging his brother's loss. Freire's brother (Also named Pitbull) was knocked out int he first round of Bellator 157 which saw Chandler secure the belt. Now Patricio is set to potentially get the next title shot with hopes that eventually a Pitbull brother will have the belt.
Joey Davis vs. Keith Cutrone
Joey Davis is a highly anticipated MMA prospect coming into the promotion a four-time NCAA Division II champion. He has a lot to prove, and usually that translates into something spectacular.
But you can't sleep on Cutrone either. He may be a virtual unknown, but I watched him fight at a local promotion and he put on one hell of a performance.
I wouldn't want to put my money on either of these hungry fighters, it's just too close.Georgi Karakhanyan vs. Bubba Jenkins
The rematch between Karakhanyan and Jenkins is one that I am personally the most excited for. I was cage side when the pair met for the first time and Karakhanyan finished Jenkins via a first round guillotine choke that saw Jenkins completely out.
Karakhanyan is hoping to get another stunning finish to break the losing streak he has been on since.
Jenkins, with a loss to avenge, may have a slight advantage over Karakhanyan as he is on a three fight win streak.
But I urge you all not to blink, I sense a first round finish for this one.
