The combat sports world is about to add another famous face to its ranks.

According to Deadline, Idris Elba is going to train like a professional kickboxer and participate in an actual fight for a new reality series on Discovery. You read that correctly, the Luther and Thor star is planning to step into the ring and put his good looks on the line against a real fighter.

The show, titled Idris Elba: Fighter, is set to premiere early in 2017 and will include three, hour-long episodes that document Elba's training leading up to the match.

Elba told Deadline that "it has been a lifelong ambition" to fight professionally and that he's eager to begin the journey. The actor and DJ will reportedly travel around the globe to seek out advice and unorthodox training regimens from various mentors, including former champions, coaches, and other gurus.

The star turned kickboxer has been teasing his martial arts skills with a series of recent Instagram posts.

This isn't the first time that Elba has teamed up with Discovery for an insane reality series. He previously broke the "Flying Mile" land speed record at Pendine Sands on the show No Limits.

Between the martial arts training, racing repertoire, and of course the British accent, Elba is pretty much turning himself into a real life James Bond. Maybe that means they'll finally give him the role.
