Donald "Cowboy" Cerrone ended last Saturday night on a high point, but according to him, the day didn't start out all that great.
"I had a rough day man," Cerrone said during his post fight press conference. "I woke up with the worst headache I have ever had, man. All day I was just laying in bed, tired, my shoulders were sore, everything that was going wrong, was going wrong," he continued. "I forgot my damn keys to my Harley, my f--king Harley's out there stuck now. It was just a f--ked up day."
He says that he went to his coach, Greg Jackson who told him that's what they trained for.
"He told me 'Go out there and f--king get it done. Be the storm Cowboy" he said.
And that's just what he did.
Cerrone came into the second round completely on fire and landed a massive combination that was the beginning of the end for his opponent, Rick Story.
"Cowboy" would go on to challenge lightweight champion Eddie Alvarez, a plan he'd had in mind well before the fight.
"It was a good victory after having such a rough start to the day," he said.
