Manny Pacquiao announced his retirement plans earlier this year, but it didn't take long for that to change.
“Yes, the fight is on,” Pacquiao said in a statement, confirming a return to professional boxing.
The fight he's referring to is a previously rumored match-up with WBO welterweight champion Jessie Vargas, which has now become official.
Pacquiao is widely regarded as the best boxer to come from the Philippines, and one of the greatest of all time. He’s won world titles in eight different weight classes and holds a record of 58-6-2 with 38 knockouts.
His opponent Jessie Vargas most recently lost his WBA super lightweight title via a controversial fight with Timothy Bradley. He holds a record of 27-1 with 10 KOs.
The bout is set for early November in Las Vegas, Nevada.
