It seems like after Ronda Rousey dominated the UFC Women's Bantamweight division, right up until her most recent lost that is, that there were way more MMA eyes on Olympic Judo this year.
So, it's no surprise that when Kayla Harrison made history on the mat by earning two gold medals, many people wanted to bring an MMA debut into the conversation.
While others got excited about another high-level specialist entering in the Octagon, some wanted to keep us grounded in the realms of logic. Well, and make a couple of jokes.
However, when someone finally posed the question to the athlete herself, the answer Harrison gave was pretty clear. Harrison absolutely lambasted the world of MMA and the UFC's booking choices.
"I don’t know if I’m cut out for a world where you get fights based on how pretty you are and how much you talk, and not necessarily what you’re worth in the ring," Harrison said (insert fire emoji). “So for me, right now, it’s just going to be focus on being a two-time Olympic champion, enjoy the moment, live in the moment, and never say never – but right now, the answer is no to MMA.”
