According to Dana White he cut Jake Ellenberger from the UFC roster shortly before UFC 201.
"We had cut him," White said to FS1. "He flew out to Las Vegas and he met with me and said, 'Don't cut me, please.' He said, 'Give me one more shot. I promise I will come out and deliver.'"
Prior to UFC 201 Ellenberger had lost five of his last six fights.
It appears that they did give Ellenberger one more chance and it paid off.
He faced number nine ranked Matt Brown, a heavy favorite. But it didn't take long for the desperate fighter to turn the tides his way. He was able to land a perfect liver kick to fold Brown followed by a barrage of punches to his crippled opponent to walk away with a TKO victory just 1:46 in the first round.
It's unclear who Ellenberger will face next, but I would image White is feeling pretty good about giving him another shot.
