Georges St-Pierre wants to fight the new welterweight champion, Tyron Woodley.
According to MMAFighting.com, who reached out to St-Pierre via text message, he would like a shot at Woodley.
St-Pierre said, via text message, "Yes." when asked again whether he wanted the fight, St-Pierre replied, "Yes."
Woodley knocked out former champion Robbie Lawler this weekend at UFC 202 just two minutes into the first round, and in his post fight interview he mentioned a possible bout with one of the greatest welterweights in UFC history.
"Nick Diaz is a top-five welterweight of all time in my eyes," Woodley said. "Georges St-Pierre is the No. 1 welterweight in my eyes. If I'm an athlete in this sport, in this division and I want to say I'm the best in the world, I feel like I should compete against those guys. So I don't feel any obligation to go by the rankings. We all know how those rankings are produced anyway. And I want to go out there and I want to fight the money fights."
St-Pierre has not fought in the UFC since 2013 when he stepped away from the sport and vacated his title but he has voiced his readiness to make a comeback.
Diaz has not fought in over a year as he's been on suspension.
Neither Woodley, St-Pierre or Diaz have fights lined up, so perhaps the MMA gods are making room for a big money fight?
