Nate Diaz made the rounds yesterday, appearing on ESPN's SportsNation, FOX's Speak For Yourself and TBS's Conan. However, it was his late night appearance on Conan that saw him run into a familiar face.
Never one to let someone else have the spotlight, Conor McGregor sent in a video to the show to play during Diaz's interview.
"What's up Conan? Sorry I couldn't make the show this week, but as a present I sent Nate in my place," McGregor said.
Now that's all fine and dandy and McGregor could have left it at that. But of course, he had to start throwing jabs and stirring the pot.
"I just hope that he is not up on that stage wearing that stupid black t-shirt he's never out of. That boy has been wearing the same damn t-shirt for the past 20 years."
For the record, Diaz was in fact wearing that "stupid" black t-shirt.
Though McGregor initially kept it light with his trash talk, he did want to get a little serious and leave Diaz with a message.
"I'm taking this fight very seriously. ... On August 20th I get my revenge and I'm looking forward to it."
When asked about the comments and that McGregor believes Diaz got lucky and "won the lottery" in their first fight, Diaz was quick to shut that down.
"The truth came out. And the truth will be August 20th when it goes down again," Diaz said.
Clearly, these two are not going to be friends anytime soon. Though there is mutual respect amongst the athletes, they will continue the trash talk until their fight. The two will headline UFC 202 in Las Vegas next month. Maybe then they can settle the beef and return to their actual divisions.
