MMA fighter and fans from around the world are donating to a GoFundMe account set up to support a fighter who was injured during a fight.

In less than seven hours the fund had exceeded $12,000.

Fighters Aljamain Sterling, Nate Diaz, Renato "Babalu" Sobral and Chael Sonnen all donated to the cause as well as a whopping $1,000 donation in the name of American Top Team. There are numerous anonymous donations as well.

Evangelista 'Cyborg' Santos suffered a horrific injury during his fight with Michael 'Venom' Page at Bellator 158 this weekend in London. Santos has a fractured skull due to a knee leaving a dent in his skull that is visible to the naked eye.

The image is graphic, and can be viewed here.

The account was set up by Santos ex-wife and fellow fighter, Cris 'Cyborg' Justino. The pair have often been seen supporting each others careers since their split five years ago. Justino donated $1,000 to get the ball rolling and has been working hard to keep the fans updated on his progress.

"Fight fans please say a prayer for my ex-husband Cyborg Santos," Justino wrote on Instagram. "Many of you watched him fight on Spike TV this weekend when he suffered this injury while fighting in London. Cyborg is still in the hospital in the UK, and they are not sure when he will be able to fly again. He has not had surgery yet and [there] is worry the brain can continue to swell causing more damage. Thank you God for your protection, The dr. said this very easily could have been life threatening."

The page was posted in order to help Santos who is currently still in the UK, and unable to fly with costs that Bellator's insurance may not cover. For example, when he returns to the US it's unlikely he will be able to work for some time.

According to the description on the GoFundMe page Santos is awaiting surgery.

Santos' opponent even posted a link to the GoFundMe urging fans to donate and sent well wishes

According to an update on the GoFundMe page Bellator president Scott Coker says he will cover all of Santos medical expenses related to the injury, and they will be rewarding him with a bonus on his salary to help him get through the recovery time.
