Bellator 156 took place Friday night in Fresno, California and the promotion has a new bantamweight champion.
Eduardo Dantas battered Marcos Galvao through a 25-minute slugfest to earn the 135-pound title, nabbing the judges' scores of 50-45, 50-44 and 50-43.
In the co-main event, Chidi Njokuani used his distance to control his fight against Thiago Jambo.
Using his length, Njokuani hit Jambo with strikes at distance, eventually landing a mid kick that sent the latter fighter to the floor. Njokuani pounced on him and finished the fight with strikes on the ground.
In an impressive show of submission skills, John Salter finished off Brandon Halsey via triangle choke in their main-card fight.
After getting bloodied up with headkicks, Halsey shot in for a takedown. Salter, however, baited his opponent into a trap and locked on the triangle that forced Halsey to tap at 4:03 of the first round.
To open up the main card, Chris Honeycutt made a successful middleweight debut and earned a decision over Mikkel Parlo.
