Current UFC Flyweight Champion Demetrious "Mighty Mouse" Johnson took to the Internet to compete against professional YouTubers in Grand Theft Auto.
DJ joined several members of Smosh Games to play online in the fifth installment of the GTA series. Smosh Games has nearly 7 million subscribers and is the 17th most popular gaming channel on YouTube. They are related to Smosh, a channel with over 22 million subscribers, one of the most subscribed channels on the site.
Johnson is no stranger to gaming himself. Having been sponsored by Xbox for much of his professional career, Johnson regularly streams himself playing video games such as Street Fighter, Overwatch and World of Warcraft on his Twitch channel.
The group played GTA 5 as part of the channel's regular Thursday episode of Grand Theft Smosh. Smosh Games' Matt Sohinki, Mari Takahashi and Wes Johnson as well as DJ competed in a hand to hand brawl, a car race and a round of sumo in which you use cars to bump other cars out of an arena. They also simply messed around and enjoyed what the game has to offer like stealing cars from pedestrians and flying a jet around the city of Los Santos.
Johnson also took the time to promote his next fight against Wilson Reis at UFC 201 and his social media and Twitch accounts. The bout against Reis will be his ninth title defense. Winning that will put him one behind Anderson Silva for longest title-defense streak in UFC history.
Johnson states in his Twitch bio that he has been playing games since he was five years old and that when his fighting days are over, he wants to become a full-time streamer. If that's the case, we may see a lot more collaborations with other YouTubers and Twitch streamers in the future with Mighty Mouse. However, with the dominance he has shown inside the Octagon in the 125-pound division, Johnson may not be done fighting for a long time.
