Top-rated free agent and former Bellator Lightweight Champion Will Brooks has signed with the UFC, according to a report on Wednesday.
MMAJunkie.com first reported the news. UFC officials confirmed the signing to Champions.co soon after.
Brooks (17-1) will face Ross Pearson at The Ultimate Fighter 23 Finale on July 8.
A former title holder, Brooks was granted a release from Bellator while being recognized as the promotion's 155-pound champ. He then made his intentions clear in the media that he wanted to sign with the UFC.
Against Pearson (19-10-1), Brooks steps in for James Krause, who had to withdraw from the card for various personal reasons.
According to the report from MMAJunkie, Brooks has signed with the UFC in a six-fight deal.
