The year was 2011. A young welterweight named Rory MacDonald stepped in the Octagon at UFC 133. His opponent? Mike Pyle.

Rory only had three fights in the UFC at that time, one of which was a TKO loss against top contender Carlos Condit. In order to recover from that loss, MacDonald had to establish a run in the division with notable finishes. Against Pyle, he would do exactly that.

In the very first round, MacDonald put Pyle on the Octagon floor and started raining ground-and-pound to the point of utter destruction. And after the bout, UFC commentator Joe Rogan said that Rory's potential could be greater than that of the fighter's teammate, Georges St-Pierre.
