UFC Light Heavyweight Champion Daniel Cormier lent his support to the LGBT community during a brief interview with TMZ in New York City.

"We gotta take care of each other," Cormier said. " We have to be there to support each other in these situations as Americans, as human beings, as people."

Cormier is in New York promoting is grudge match with Jon Jones for the UFC light heavyweight championship.

"The LGBT community is very strong," Cormier said. "They will come together. They will support each other as we will all support that community too. So keep your head up. Try to stay positive in the face of unbelievable circumstances and know that the entire world is behind you and we will get through this together."

Fifty people were killed during a mass shooting early Sunday morning at an Orlando nightclub. It was the largest mass shooting in U.S. history.
