Kevin Ferguson, better known as "Kimbo Slice," has passed away, Champions.co has learned. He was 42.
After various reports through social media on Monday, Champions.co confirmed with sources of the passing.
Shortly after confirming the news, Bellator President Scott Coker released a statement regarding the fighter's death.
"We are all shocked and saddened by the devastating and untimely loss of Kimbo Slice, a beloved member of the Bellator family," Coker said in the statement. "One of the most popular MMA fighters ever, Kimbo was a charismatic, larger-than-life personality that transcended the sport.
"Outside of the cage he was a friendly, gentle giant and a devoted family man. His loss leaves us all with extremely heavy hearts, and our thoughts and prayers are with the entire Ferguson family and all of Kimbo's friends, fans, and teammates."
No official cause of death has been revealed yet.
Slice last fought at Bellator 149 where he defeated Dada 5000, but the win was overturned after he tested positive for steroids.
Kimbo was known for his street fighting antics, and his boisterous personality. Our condolences to his family and teammates.
