Following his stunning victory over Fabricio Werdum at UFC 198 with a first-round knockout in front of more than 45,000 UFC fans in Curitiba, Brazil, Stipe Miocic already has his first title defense.

Miocic's challenger is none other than Alistair Overeem and the fight will take place at UFC 203 on Sept. 10. Overeem is coming into the bout in fine form, with four consecutive wins, including victories over Junior dos Santos and that spectacular finish over Andrei Arlovski recently at UFC Rotterdam.

The bout will take place in Miocic's hometown of Cleveland at the Quicken Loans Arena. Miocic will seek to break the curse of the heavyweight title by defending the belt on more than two consecutive occasions, while Overeem will seek to make history by becoming the only fighter ever to hold the UFC, Strikeforce, DREAM and K-1 heavyweight titles. An intimidating feat, if he can attain it.

The UFC has elevated it's status in the last few years, and in 2016 the promotion has stamped it's authority over the MMA world. With stacked card after stacked card, the UFC shows no signs of slowing down, and with Miocic vs. Overeem set to headline 203, it looks like fight fans are in for an even more incredible 2016.

The rest of the fight card is yet to be announced, but expect it to be a high octane event with multiple bouts to whet the appetite. 2016 is truly the year of MMA!
