It was a close one, but UFC star Paige VanZant took second place on the finale for ABC's hit show Dancing With The Stars.

VanZant, paired with professional dancer Mark Ballas, scored a 29 out of 30 for their first dance, and a 30 out of 30 for their second making their finale total 59. The duo even brought two of the three judges to tears after their second dance, a freestyle set to the song 'Somewhere Over The Rainbow.'

Going into the finale on Tuesday night VanZant was a heavy favorite and it seems that everyone in the MMA world was tuning in to watch.

Unfortunately for the MMA crowd, the DWTS fans voted to award Peta Murgatroyd and America’s Next Top Model winner Nyle DiMarco (who also happens to be deaf) as the best dancers this season. DiMarco chose the song 'The Sound of Silence' to accompany is last dance. How could you not vote for that?

VanZant was the first UFC star to take place in the show, which is on it's 22 season.

This exposure has been phenomenal for the UFC, and I predict more athletes taking part in this contest in the future.
