Fighters have gotten pretty used to being drug tested in the UFC. It's part of the job and can also be a bit of a hassle.
For Claudia Gadelha, she feels the number of tests she's had to endure, is a little one-sided.
"I was tested three times in five days," the UFC strawweight told Combate. " I was surprised. I arrived at the gym last Friday and USADA was there. I was leaving my house on Tuesday and USADA was there. On Thursday they were at my house again. I guess I must be bothering them somehow."
While she doesn't mind the testing process, she feels that the USADA isn't testing UFC strawweight champion Joanna Jedrzejczyk nearly as much as they're testing her. "I want to be tested," continued Gadelha. "I’m all for a clean sport, but I want them to go all the way to Poland to test Joanna, because I’m sure she’s not being tested."
According to the USADA records, though, both fighters are being tested nearly the same amount of times. In 2016, Gadhelha has been tested four times and Jedrzejczyk has been tested three times. When you combine the number of times both fighters have been tested in 2015, it comes to a total of six times each. dating back to when the USADA began their testing process in July of last year.
Gadelha and Jedrzejczyk are set to square off at the TUF 23 Finale on July 8 in Las Vegas. It will be Gadelha's second fight with Jedrzejczyk but the first time she's fighting for the strawweight title. She lost the first fight by split decision but she's quite confident a different result will happen this time around.
"I feel great physically, very strong," stated Gadelha. "I know about this fight for six months now."
