It was a massive blow for the UFC when Anderson Silva had to pull out of his homecoming fight at UFC 198. Thankfully, UFC President Dana White and Co. had already stacked the card with a series of incredible fights, so although the Spider wasn't there, the night was still filled with high-octane carnage inside the Octagon.
Mere days before Silva was set to take on Uriah Hall, White confirmed to Yahoo! Sports that the greatest of all time had to be pulled of the card due to a medical problem. The issue involved his gallbladder, and UFC medical consultant Jeff Davidson revealed that Silva had been diagnosed with acute cholecystitis and would undergo surgery.
Now it looks like Anderson Silva is on the road to recovery, sharing a photo on Facebook post op with the caption:
In recovery, guys . Thank you for the strength of all of you.
Soon I'm back.
Hopefully we'll get to see "The Spider" back in action and winning ways soon after his withdrawal from UFC 198. After a defeat to Bisping at UFC Fight Night London, Silva was coming off a disappointing 0-3 record with a no-contest in his last four outings.
We can only bet that he'll be back more determined than ever. We wish you all the best in your recovery, Silva, and can't wait to see you back inside the Octagon!
