The news broke this week that Henry Cejudo and Joseph Benavidez would be the coaches on Season 24 of The Ultimate Fighter. The folks at the UFC are always trying to think up new concepts for the new seasons of the show to keep it fresh, and the idea for next season is just that.

Cejudo and Benavidez will coach flyweights to face division champion Demetrious Johnson as the show winner's first match in the company. The champ has dominated his division decisively beating all contenders in his way,

The UFC are now searching for a new contender.

Cejudo and Benavidez have both previously lost to "Mighty Mouse" in title fights. This creates a fascinating narrative as the two flyweights who could not beat the champion are now training someone else to attempt it.

Critics might say that pitting a fighter against one of the pound-for-pound greatest is like throwing them to the wolves. They said that about Cejudo and he had a number of bouts in the company before challenging for the title at UFC 197, ultimately losing. However, you have to remember that these guys are some of the best flyweights in the world and a shot at UFC gold is a dream opportunity.

The coaches will also face-off on the Dec. 3 finale. The two have been remarkably cordial in the interviews post-announcement despite this fact. The two are very funny and charismatic on camera, so this should make for fun television.
