If you've been on the internet recently, then I'm sure you've already seen the news about a potential super fight between Conor McGregor and Floyd Mayweather Jr. A matchup of gigantic proportions, the fight would undoubtedly hail the attention of the world and potentially become the biggest PPV gate in history.

With Mayweather recently commenting about a potential return to the ring for his 50th fight, fans around the world started to throw one name at the unbeaten boxer – Conor McGregor.

The Dublin native fueled speculation further when he posted a mock-up promotional poster of the duo on social media.

Many people believe that the fight could never happen in reality due to McGregor's current UFC contract, but that hasn't stopped the speculation.

Speaking to EsNews, Floyd Mayweather Sr. confirmed that negotiations are in fact taking place to put on a bout between his son and an MMA fighter.

"He had told me the other day that he's going to take another fight. He told me it's [against] some kind of MMA fighter."

The general consensus around the world is that if the fight were to take place, it would be in a boxing ring, outside of the caged world of MMA from where McGregor hails. A theory that Mayweather Sr. also confirmed.

"Yeah, that's what I thought they would do. That's what everyone has been saying. I really don't know exactly when, but I'm pretty sure it's going to come around pretty soon. Won't be that long."

Mayweather Sr. didn't hold back in his predictions, either. To be fair though, his son has earned the right to be cocky. Having gone his entire career unbeaten, Floyd Jr. is one of the best fighters of his generation.

"If it's not MMA fighting, Conor is going to get the hell beat out of him. I know lil' Floyd ain't going for being an MMA fighter, so that means that Conor is going to get the hell beat out of him still."
