Robbie Lawler's highly anticipated return is on the horizon, and he'll do it against a guy that's long been calling for a shot at the belt.
A UFC welterweight title fight between champ Robbie Lawler and No. 3-ranked Tyron Woodley is in the works to headline UFC 201, according to a report Wednesday evening from "UFC Tonight." The pay-per-view is scheduled to take place in Atlanta.
A fan-favorite, Lawler (27-10, 1 NC) has twice defended his belt since winning it from Johny Hendricks in 2014. In his last bout, Lawler beat Carlos Condit in what many consider an all-time classic at UFC 195. The two went 25 minutes in a back-and-forth affair that saw Lawler edge out a split decision.
Meanwhile, Woodley (15-3) has been in the 170-pound mix since coming to the UFC in 2013. In that time he holds notable wins over Dong Hyun Kim, Kelvin Gastelum and also Condit.
