A lightweight fight between Edson Barboza and Gilbert Melendez (squeals in excitement) is in the works for UFC on FOX 20 in Chicago, the UFC announced on Wednesday. The 155-pound scrap, which is scheduled to take place July 23.

Barboza (17-4) is basically God's gift to stand-up fighting in MMA, making a reputation for memorable striking performances since coming to the UFC in 2010. In his last outing, Barboza went three rounds with former division champ Anthony Pettis and earned a unanimous decision in what was likely the most notable win of his career.

Melendez (22-5) hasn't competed in the Octagon since June 2015, when he lost a split decision to Eddie Alvarez at UFC 188. Following the loss, Melendez failed a drug test was a ultimately suspended for a year.

UFC on FOX 20 is slowly taking shape and more bouts are expected to be announced in the coming weeks and we'll surely update you as more news surfaces.
