On Saturday morning, Bellator's Jordan Parsons life drastically changed. In heartbreaking circumstances, it looks like Parsons MMA career will likely be over following an alleged hit-and-run incident.
The featherweight fighter affiliated with the Blackzilians, is currently listed in critical condition at Delray Medical Center following the accident. Jordan Parsons currently holds a professional record of 11-2, and was a hot prospect for the promotion with a very promising career. Unfortunately it looks like his MMA days will sadly be over, as the incident resulted in the bottom half of his right leg needing to be amputated.
Bellator issued a statement informing the public that Delray Beach police are seeking any information from witnesses of the incident.
"Bellator has been informed of a terrible accident that occurred last night involving featherweight fighter Jordan Parsons, who was struck by a vehicle in a hit-and-run incident," the statement read. "We are still in the process of uncovering details and with his family’s consent, hope to have an update on his medical condition soon. Our thoughts and prayers are with Jordan and his family as he recovers. The hit-and-run occurred on Lindell Blvd. and South Federal Highway in Delray Beach, Florida. Anyone with information regarding this incident is asked to call the Delray Beach Police Department at (561) 243-7800."
Unfortunately it appears that Parsons is currently in a coma, as fellow mixed martial artist and friend Rashad Evans took to Instagram in support for Jordan Parsons.
The Bellator star was scheduled to fight Adam Piccolotti at Bellator 154 in San Jose on May 14, as of yet no official announcement has been made on who Piccolotti will now fight.
Our thoughts are currently with Jordan Parsons, his family and friends. Everyone from the Champions team wishes him a speedy recovery and we hope to see him smiling soon.
