Say what you will about the films of Jean-Claude Van Damme, you can't deny he's part of action movie history. Sure, he may not be the box office success that Chuck Norris was or hold legendary status like Bruce Lee, but he's in there somewhere.
Many of Van Damme's films, like "Bloodsport" and "Kickboxer," were in the early days of mixed martial arts and its move into the mainstream. The films brought a new style of fighting to the big screen. Needless to say, Van Damme is well acquainted with the MMA world and the fighters in it.
Van Damme took to Twitter over the weekend to show just how acquainted he is, posting pictures of himself sparring with UFC's Nate and Nick Diaz.
It looks like Nate's "vacation" has started out on a fun note.
Nate was supposed to face Conor McGregor in a rematch that would serve as the main event at UFC 200. Following Conor's surprise retirement tweet and the subsequent back and forth between the Irishman and the UFC, Nate was left without an opponent for the landmark fight card. His eyes set solely on beating down McGregor for a second time, Nate didn't want to fight anyone else at UFC 200, and he was pulled from the card. A rematch between Jon Jones and Daniel Cormier is going to take place instead.
As for Nick Diaz, he's been on disciplinary suspension from the Nevada State Athletic Commission but is expected to return at the end of the Summer.
