Today has been a very strange day for the MMA community. First, seemingly out of nowhere, Conor McGregor tweeted that he would be retiring.

Then, perhaps jokingly, Nate Diaz tweeted that he would also be hanging up his gloves.

Knowing McGregor, many people assumed it was a publicity stunt, or perhaps his account had been hacked. According to MMAFighting's Ariel Helwani though... this is no drill.

If that wasn't enough, McGregor's coach John Kavanagh has seemingly confirmed the news, tweeting a wistful message:

Is this really happening? Is Conor McGregor actually dropping out of his scheduled fight at UFC 200 (and for that matter, is Nate Diaz too?).

We'll be watching this story closely as it develops. Fingers crossed that this does not ruin the entire event.
