It's no secret that Conor McGregor had larger ambitions for his brand than just the UFC. The native Irishman had planned to move into the glitz and glamour of Hollywood, landing a deal to appear in the Vin Diesel movie, xXx: The Return of Xander Cage.

Unfortunately for the featherweight champ, UFC 196 put a major dent in those plans. Following his second round submission to Nate Diaz, the Notorious one opted to postpone his cinematic debut in order to focus on UFC 200, and avenging the only loss on his UFC career.

Thankfully for Vin Diesel, another UFC fighter was ready to take the spot. Fresh off his victory over Anderson Silva, British mixed martial artist Michael Bisping recently confirmed that he's been cast in the upcoming sequel to the 2002 film.

Bisping took to instagram to announce the news to his fans.

Very happy to announce that I landed a role in the new XXX movie with Vin Diesel and Samuel L Jackson. I want to thank my agent @msstaudt @audieattar and of course @vindiesel for the opportunity.

Although a veteran in the fighting game and UFC promotion, the 37 year old has his eyes firmly set on a title shot. Coming off a massive win against former middleweight champion Anderson Silva, Bisping reckons he's done more than enough to announce himself as a title contender.

xXx: The Return of Xander Cage won't be the big screen debut for Bisping, as the Briton previously starred in 2014 films Plastic and The Anomaly. However, it will boast his best castmates to date, with Samuel L. Jackson and Ruby Rose also confirmed.

xXx: The Return of Xander Cage will have an initial release of January 20, 2017 in the USA.
