Coming off an impressive knockout victory over former champ Frank Mir, 8th ranked UFC heavyweight contender MARK HUNT just signed a multi-million dollar contract with Dana White as reported by MMA JUNKIE. The deal is for six fights in 30 months, and possibly lines up the 42 year old Vegan athlete (12-10-1 MMA, 7-4-1 UFC) for a shot at the title in the future.
“It’s not about the money,” Hunt said. “Of course I had to get paid for my work, but I want that title. Dana gave me a message, and we talked about it. There were some back-and-forth negotiations. I think I still deserve a title shot, and in the end, I thought six fights should do it. I’m glad to finish my career at the top end with the UFC. I want to bring the gold Down Under.” MMA JUNKIE
The "Super-Samoan" was lobbying Dana White for the fill in spot against Jon Jones at UFC #197, but unfortunately that honor went to "OSP" Ovince Saint Preux. Fans took to social media expressing a desire to see that fight as well. Nonetheless, coming off two knockout wins over Mir and Antonio Silva has definitely caught the fight communities attention. Now with this six fight contract, loaded with some serious $$$, he has Dana White's attention as well.
Mark Hunt Stats:
- Height: 5' 10" ( 177 cm )
- Weight: 265 lb ( 120 kg )
- Reach 72"
- Leg Reach 43"
It's only going to be a matter of time before we see Mark get his shot at the heavyweight belt, currently held by Fabricio Werdum, who will be fighting the last man who beat Hunt at UFC#198, Stipe Miocic. Who knows? Maybe we'll get to see a championship rematch between Hunt and Stipe in the future. Stay tuned fight fans!
