UFC champion Derrick Lewis has got jokes. Especially when it comes to Jon Jones and all of his legal woes.
Sure, it might have been a little mean, but come on — it's pretty funny, too.
Jones was arrested last week for a probation violation stemming from his 2015 hit-and-run conviction. Last year he pleaded guilty to crashing into the car of a pregnant woman, who suffered a broken arm as a result of the incident. Two weeks ago, Jones was pulled over for drag racing, which he vehemently denied. Unfortunately for him, it was enough for an Albuquerque judge to issue a warrant for his arrest. Rather than wait to be picked up, Jones turned himself in to authorities and spent a couple of nights in the slammer before he appeared before a judge.
Luckily for Jones, his offenses weren't enough to keep him from squaring off against his rival Daniel Cormier at UFC 197. But as it turns out, Cormier had to pull out of the fight this past weekend due to injury. Enter Ovince Saint Preux, who will step in for the light heavyweight bout against Jones.
This will be the first appearance in the octagon for Jones since he was stripped of his title belt in 2015. And who knows? Maybe one day he will finally decide to move up to heavyweight and give Derrick Lewis a little payback.
