Holly Holm says she is going to take a break after Saturday's UFC 196 if she gets her way, but even if she defeats Miesha Tate, she says she's likely to take another fight opportunity even if it's not Ronda Rousey.

Honestly, I don't think she owes anything to Ronda Rousey.

Holm (10-0 MMA, 3-0 UFC) made it pretty clear after capturing the UFC women's bantamweight title from Rousey (12-1 MMA, 6-1 UFC) at UFC 193 in November that she wants to be an active champion. And waiting for Rousey to recuperate isn't a big part of her plan.

At this point, it isn't really up to Holly Holm as to when she'll fight in a rematch with Rousey - due to Rousey's "hiatus" of sorts - but she doesn't owe Rousey that fight... at least not right away.

In fact, Rousey got utterly dominated by Holm and it wasn't close or controversial in any way, shape, or form. The bottom line, though, is if Holm keeps winning, she'll keep fighting.

Here's what she told MMAJunkie:

“I don’t like to wait that long. Right now I have a fight, and I have a really busy March and April, and I’m going on a girls trip in April, which is very much needed. Honestly, I would actually really love to not schedule a fight or even think about it until after all that. I went straight from the victory tour to the on-sale tour for this fight, which is how I like it. I want to be active. But I could use maybe like six weeks.”

At 34, Holm has already had a long combat-sports career. She spent nearly 12 years as pro boxer before making the transition to MMA five years ago. That switch paid off, and Holm is on a 10-fight undefeated streak with the UFC belt in her possession.

She wants to take advantage of where she's at in her career, and I would even venture to say she cares more about her fighting career than fame, endorsements, and movie deals.

“(I won’t take time) off of working out. I still like to work out, but (I want) six weeks with not having to actually think about a fight. Then we can schedule one. I don’t really need that much time off because then I start to think, ‘Well, what’s my purpose? What’s next? Let’s go.'”

What do you think?

Will Holly Holm and Ronda Rousey fight again any time soon?
