Quinton 'Rampage' Jackson and Kimbo Slice are two iconic fighters who I grew up admiring and who paved the way for many others who came after them. There's no denying they deserve recognition for what they've done as fighters - specifically, as African American fighters who were dominant in their respective primes.
However, I think it's fair to say that both of these guys are no longer at the peak of their athletic careers.
That's not stopping Rampage from wanting to get a piece of Kimbo, though...
Earlier this month, Bellator MMA made the announcement that Quinton 'Rampage' Jackson would be returning under their promotion after the two parties had reached an agreement.
While there wasn't a set date at the time for Jackson's return, the fans want to see him knockout Kimbo Slice. He's happy to oblige, too, as he mentioned on the MMA Hour.
You can see what he had to say below:
“When I did the Ultimate Fighter with Kimbo, he kind of mentioned something that he always wanted to fight me. Even though Kimbo is a heavyweight, I’m a big light heavyweight. So you know, we’ve seen Kimbo get in shape and do well. I don’t think he took DaDa serious. I don’t think he trained hard for him. I’ve been guilty of that before. If I had to fight Kimbo, he would most definitely train hard for me and get in shape. Especially with that embarrassment of that last performance. I’m a fighter, it’s what I do, I fight. I’ve fought homies. There has been a couple of opponents that I didn’t want to fight or didn’t think would be a good matchup. I am interested in finishing my career and entertaining my fans. If the fans want to see Kimbo get slammed and knocked out, then that’s what I am going to try to do.”
Kimbo Slice looked pretty horrible in his fight against Dada 5000 at Bellator 149, but he did manage to get out of there with a sloppy knockout win. I think Rampage would completely thrash him, but there's a chance Kimbo actually trains his ass off and gets back into shape.
What do you think?
Would you want to watch Kimbo Slice fight Rampage Jackson? And would Kimbo have any chance to actually win?
