Holly Holm isn't one to "throw shade" as the youths of the Internet say these days. She's very unlike Ronda Rousey in that regard. She's a humble champion.
As the female bantamweight title holder, Holm is much more gracious than her predecessor, which some fans think could serve her well in her pursuit of maintaining that status - keeping her belt.
However, Miesha Tate is chomping at the bit to take it from her at UFC 196 on March 5th, and now that Conor McGregor is only going to be fighting for an interim lightweight belt, that (Tate/Holm) could be the most important fight of the night!
Here's what she had to say in a recent press conference:
She's willing to take on the role of the proverbial #1 seed; meaning, if she loses a fight, she loses her belt. She knows that the added pressure of being a champion means she has to work even harder, and that people will be giving her their best shot each time she steps in the Octagon.
It's good to see that she is accepting the responsibility of championship status. I just hope she changes her mind about the body paint (ha jk, her body, her choice).
