Herb Dean is a well respected ref, and especially well respected by the Rafael dos Anjos camp. The Brazilian fighter put in a request for him to referee the fight against Conor McGregor at UFC 196, and it appears he got his wish.

Conor McGregor is trying to steal Rafael dos Anjos' lightweight belt from him, which would make him the first ever fighter to hold both featherweight and lightweight belts at the same time.

Dos Anjos doesn't want that to happen...

One of the first Tweet reactions from a fan thinks this shows weakness and doubt... do you agree?

Herb Dean is known for stopping fights early, and that could play to the benefit of whoever comes out firing on all cylinders.

Regardless of whether you think this will help dos Anjos or McGregor, there has to be something kind of fishy about fighters getting to choose who officiates their bouts.

What do you think?

Is Herb Dean refereeing dos Anjos and McGregor's fight fair?
