Well, it appears while Miesha Tate is vying for Holly Holm's bantamweight UFC championship belt, but apparently she isn't the only person seeking ownership of it.
Mike Winkeljohn is Holly Holm's coach and a prominent one at that. He's been around the block in the mixed martial arts (MMA) business and has been instrumental in getting Holly on the map.
Well, it appears he fell victim to thieves who have been ravaging and burglarizing homes in the Albuquerque, New Mexico area.
What kind of asshole steals someone's belt?
Here is Winkeljohn's account of what happened, told to local reporters at KOAT:
"She called me later in the day, saying that someone had gotten into our shed out in the back. (My friends) actually put some time and effort into dressing it up, putting some leather work into it, so I really appreciated that belt. I'd be more than happy to be the guy that catches them. In some ways, I wish I would've been there."
Winkeljohn is one half of the Jackson-Wink training group that works with Jon Jones as well. It's difficult to quantify how much the belt is worth, however, to the Holm camp I would guess it's pretty much priceless.
