This morning I wrote about the fact that Sage Northcutt was in the hospital for two days prior to his fight at UFC on Fox 18. The UFC's highly hyped 19 year old prospect went down to Bryan Barberena via a second-round suspension (arm triangle).

And now, pending x-rays of his right foot and toes, the NJSACB is saying he's also been suspended 30 days for a laceration on his forehead. Literal insult to injury right here...

Here is the complete list of all injuries from the event:

  • Ryan Bader: Suspended 60 days for knockout; suspended indefinitely pending neurological exam, suspended indefinitely pending CT head scan.
  • Josh Barnett: Suspended 30 days for facial laceration.
  • Bryan Barberena: Suspended 45 days for forehead laceration.
  • Sage Northcutt: Suspended indefinitely pending x-rays of right foot and toes; suspended 30 days for forehead laceration.
  • Jake Ellenberger: Suspended 45 days for nasal laceration; suspended indefinitrly pending left forearm evaluation.
  • Diego Ferreira: Suspended indefinitely pending x-rays of left ankle.
  • Rafael Natal: Suspended indefinitely pending ophthalmological clearance; suspended 30 days for facial laceration.
  • Kevin Casey: Suspended 30 days (14 days no contact) for TKO.
  • George Sullivan: Suspended 60 days (30 days no contact) for KO.
  • Matt Dwyer: Suspended indefinitely pending ophthalmological exam.
  • Damon Jackson: Suspended indefinitely pending ophthalmological exam; suspended 30 days for facial laceration; suspended indefinitely pending x-rays of right foot.
  • Felipe Olivieri: Suspended 30 days.

Of course, we're left with the question of whether Northcutt should have jumped into the ring so soon after being in the hospital with strep throat. He assured us that he was ready, but it's difficult to be sure.

What do you think?
