UFC women's bantamweight champion Joanna Jedrzejczyk and her top challenger Claudia Gadelha will coach against one another on The Ultimate Fighter 23 (tv show) this season, as was announced Saturday at UFC Fight Night: Dillashaw vs. Cruz.
Jedrzejczyk will then defend her title against Gadelha in the main event of the TUF 23 Finale on July 8 in Las Vegas, Nevada. TUF 23 is set to air on FOX Sports 1 on April 20. The season will include fighters from the men's light heavyweight and women's strawweight divisions. Jedrejczyk and Gadelha will headline the card the day before UFC 200 as part of International Fight Week.
Jedrzejczyk (11-0) has won all five of her first UFC fights and is coming off a unanimous decision win over Valerie Letourneau at the now infamous UFC 193 in November. Of course that was the same event where Ronda Rousey went down to Holly Holm.
Gadelha (13-1) beat Jessica Aguilar by unanimous decision at UFC 190 back in August, which was her only fight since Jedrzejczyk. She's a Brazilian jiu-jitsu black belt and unreal grappler. There were many who believed Gadelha should have gotten the nod over Jedrzejczyk.
This will be the third Ultimate Fighter season to include women. TUF 18 was the first and TUF 20 debuted the strawweights in the UFC.
