Julianna Pena was arrested and charged with two counts of assault by the Spokane (Wash.) Police Department. She was arrested at 2:20 a.m., Ferguson said, and booked into the Spokane County Jail at 2:53 a.m. Sunday morning, per online jail inmate information.
Pena and another person were arrested outside of a bar in Downtown Spokane, and apparently Pena was letting it be known that she was a professional fighter on the scene. I imagine alcohol was involved, but I've got a hunch.
A spokesperson for Spokane County Jail said that Pena was released on $2,000 bail Sunday afternoon. The official time per online records was 2:20 p.m.
Pena did not respond to a request for comment Sunday evening. UFC senior vice president of public relations Dave Sholler told MMA Fighting that the organization is "aware of the situation" and "in the process of gathering more information."
Pena was the first ever female winner of The Ultimate Fighter reality show back in 2013. She's 7-2 and has three straight wins in the UFC. She's etched her name among the top contenders in the women's bantamweight division. She's currently ranked No. 6 in the UFC 135-pound sub-section of women contenders. She's coming off a unanimous decision victory over Jessica Eye at UFC 192 in Houston.
