  • Match Type: Singles Match (but if Dean Ambrose gets disqualified, he loses the Intercontinental Championship)

Things start off with a lock-up, which Dean Ambrose gets the better of, taking the Miz down. They out-manoeuvre each other with Miz pushing the champion, taunting him. He then slaps Dean in the face, inciting an onslaught of rage-infested punches. The referee reminds Ambrose that if he's disqualified, he loses the title. Ambrose calms down and lands a spinning elbow on Miz before knocking him to the outside. He then launches himself through the ropes.

Dean rams the Miz into the apron and breaks the count. He lifts a sreel chair, and the referee berates him — they're really pushing the whole hothead risking disqualification angle here. Miz lands a kick, taking Ambrose down and grabs the chair as Maryse distracts the ref. But the champion grabs the chair as the referee turns around and berates him again.

The Miz gains the control as the action spills back into the ring. Ambrose fights back and looks for the Lunatic Lariat, but Miz counters and delivers a back-breaker. He begins to beat down the Intercontinental Champion, slowing the match down with a chokehold. The Lunatic Fringe tries to fight back but eats a boot from the challenger.

Miz rakes Dean's face and tries to follow it up with a submission as an "Ambrose" chant breaks out. Before the champ can fight out, the Miz pulls him down by the hair and continues to work on him. The A-Lister hits three consecutive dropkicks in the corner and follows it up with his patented clothesline. He then ascends the ropes but is stopped when Dean fights back, knocking him to the floor outside.

Ambrose mounts the ringpost and delivers his trademark elbow onto Miz on the outside. He throws him back into the ring and builds momentum with clotheslines and a Fisherman Suplex. Miz fights back, looking for a kick, but Ambrose rolls him up for a near-fall. Dean then jumps off the top rope but he misses his target, tweaking his knee in the process. The Miz goes straight for the injured leg and locks in the Figure Four leg-lock. Dean makes it to the ropes but Miz goes for it again. Ambrose counters into a roll-up for a two count.

Miz counters Ambrose's attack from the top, looking for a Superplex. But Dean counters, looking for a Powerbomb. Miz pulls the turnbuckle cover off as he struggles. He slides down and Dean tries to ram him into the turnbuckle but stops just in time, noticing the exposed steel. The distraction costs him as he turns straight into running knee/dropkick from Miz.

Miz then begins to unload on the champ with Daniel Bryan-like "Yes" kicks, but Dean counters and locks in his own Figure-Four Leg-lock. Miz makes it to the ropes, but Ambrose hits a clothesline. They both almost run into Maryse, which gives Miz an idea — he asks his wife to slap him, hoping it'll get Ambrose disqualified. She complies but the ref doesn't buy it, sending her away from ringside.

But as he's distracted, Miz launches Ambrose into the referee. The angry ref accuses the Champ of intentionally hitting him and makes his way to the ring-bell to disqualify him. But as Dean begs him not to, Miz hits the Skull-Crushing Finale to win his seventh Intercontinental Championship.

Winner and NEW Intercontinental Champion: The Miz

Backstage, Bayley responds to rumors that she "isn't extreme" and claims that Alexa doesn't really know her. She tells us how she saw Wonder Woman over the weekend and felt empowered before claiming that she will do whatever it takes to win back her championship.

  • Match Type: Mixed Tag-Team Match

The ladies kick things off for a few seconds before Alicia Fox hugs Noam Dar, tagging him in. Thus, Rich Swann enters as well, and gets the quick advantage. Dar climbs to the top rope but is taken down, courtesy of a hurricanrana by Swann. He then runs to Fox, hugging her, tagging her in.

The female superstars are back in and things get vicious, with Banks locking in the Banks Statement immediately. Fox scrambles to the ropes but as the referee's back is turned, Dar places her legs on the ropes, forcing Banks to break the hold. As Banks complains, she eats a boot from Fox. Alicia takes over, keeping the Boss at bay. But she misses a boot in the corner, hurting her leg. This allows Banks to make the tag to Swann and the male competitors take over again.

Swann flies around the ring, taking Dar down. They look for a double clothesline but Swann gets the better of it. They continue to out-manoeuvre each other until they both end up on their backs. As both men lie prone, Sasha and Alicia run into the ring and begin tearing each other apart, viciously striking everything that moves.

Outside the ring, Banks looks for a double knee takedown off the ropes on Alicia Fox but Dar gets in the way, protecting his partner. But Sasha hits the double knees on Dar instead. Swann then hits the Phoenix Splash back in the ring for the win.

Winners: Sasha Banks and Rich Swann

  • Match Type: Kendo-Stick-On-A-Pole Match

Alexa Bliss taunts Bayley allowing her to move towards the kendo stick. The challenger takes the bait but Bliss grabs her and takes her down. The two begin to work on each other quickly, until the Champion hits a kick on Bayley, knocking her outside the ring.

Alexa begins to dismount the kendo stick, but Bayley climbs the rope too. The two women struggle at the top and Bayley manages to grab the stick, but it falls to the mat. The women end up on the outside but the challenger makes her way into the ring and grabs the stick. She stalks Alexa, who bolts and runs around the ring. Bayley follows her and chases her back into the ring.

Bayley then stalks the begging champion, but she takes too long savoring the moment. Thus, before she can attack, Bliss spears her to the mat, sending the kendo stick flying out her the challenger's hand. Alexa then picks up the prone kendo stick and unloads on Bayley, hitting her across the back. She lands a violent strike across the back of her neck that echoes throughout the arena.

However, in the midst of the assault Bayley manages to grab Bliss and hits a shocking Bayley-To-Belly. The stunned Bliss crawls to the corner, regaining the stick. She manages to gain the advantage and hits the challenger with the stick again before planting her with a DDT for a quick but decisive win.

Winner and STILL RAW Women's Champion: Alexa Bliss

The Hardy Boyz Vs, Sheamus & Cesaro (RAW Tag Team Championships)

  • Match Type: Steel Cage Match

As soon as the bell rings, both Sheamus and Cesaro begin to climb the cage. The Hardys give chase, pulling the challengers down and unloading on them. Jeff works on Cesaro while Matt works on Sheamus. The Celtic Warrior fights back with the Irish Curse Backbreaker, and he and Cesaro take control. They then attempt to escape again but the Hardys apprehend them.

Jeff Hardy and Cesaro run into each other and their partners respond by trying to escape, but they are both dragged back down into the ring by Cesaro and Jeff. Matt and Jeff bash Sheamus and Cersaro's heads into the Steel Cage before swapping over by dropkicking them into the steel. They work together, hitting Poetry-In-Motion on both men who are sandwiched between the cage and the ropes. Have I mentioned how great it is to have the Hardy Boyz back?

The Hardys try to escape but the challengers catch up to them. As Jeff and Cesaro battle on the top rope, Sheamus takes them both down before Matt jumps down too, hitting an elbow on the Swiss Superman. Matt then tries to make it out, but he's caught by Cesaro, who pulls him back down.

The challengers gain the advantage and take down Matt and Jeff. But as they try to escape through the door, Matt holds onto them and won't allow them to leave. They respond by double-teaming him and throwing him straight into the cage wall. They try the same with Jeff but he grabs onto the cage and begins to climb it like Spider-Man. The audience goes crazy as he scales it, but Cesaro manages to drag him back into the ring and the action continues.

The Hardys counter the challengers' attacks and are suddenly back in control. They both climb to the top of the cage but Cesaro and Sheamus catch up to them. Jeff manages to climb over but Cesaro holds onto him for a moment — highlighting his insane strength. But the Charismatic Enigma manages to drop down to safety outside the cage. But Matt is left alone with the former champions in the ring.

Matt holds his own and hits the Side-Effect on both Cesaro and Sheamus. Seizing the opportunity, he quickly climbs to the top of the cage. However, he is caught. On the outside of the cage, Jeff climbs to the top and tries to help his brother make it over to the other side and a tug-of-war ensues as the challengers try to keep him in. Cesaro and Sheamus win out as they knock Jeff to the ground below and retrieve Matt. They then double-team him again the ring.

Jeff tries to come back in and slams the cage door into Cesaro but he eats a Brogue Kick through the mesh from Sheamus. The challengers hit a double White Noise on Matt off the top rope. Seeing his brother in trouble, Jeff rips his shirt off and climbs to the top of the cage, inciting a great reaction from the crowd. He poses on the top of the cage before launching himself onto the two men below, connecting with an incredible Whisper In The Wind. And everything resets as all four superstars are down.

Cesaro and Sheamus begin to stir and eventually start to climb the cage. Hurriedly, Matt tries to drag Jeff out through the cage door instead. Matt does indeed make it out through the door, but the Celtic Warrior and the Swiss Cyborg hit the ground seconds before he can drag Jeff out.

Winners and NEW RAW Tag Team Champions: Sheamus and Cesaro

  • Match Type: Submission Match

Both men lock up in the beginning before Neville targets Aries' injured knee. But the challenger fires back with kicks of his own, leading to yet another series of lock-ups between the two. They highlight their athleticism by consistently rolling through and out-manoeuvring each other. But it ends when Aries quickly locks in the Rings Of Saturn. before the champ scrambles to the ropes.

We reset things as they try to lock-up again, but this time Aries locks in a guillotine-like submission. Again, Neville rams him into the ropes, forcing the break. They face-off again and this time, Aries looks for the Last Chancery submission, but Neville rolls out of the ring. Aries follows and rams him into the barricade multiple times. He then climbs the rope and jumps onto the champion. However, it seems like Aries has hurt his injured leg.

As expected, Neville strikes, targeting Aries' left leg. He torques the leg with a hold for a moment but it isn't long until Aries fights back, knocking Neville to the outside. Back in the ring, Aries continues to take the fight to the King of the Cruiserweights until he gets kicked off the apron, hurting his arm and injured leg in the process.

Neville breaks the count and attacks the challenger outside the ring, targeting the vulnerable arm. He rolls him back into the ring and mocks the audience in between every assault. But he misses a dropkick off the top as Aries is waiting for him, grabbing his legs and locking in the Figure-Four leg-lock. He tries to roll over but Aries rolls it back over before Neville gets to the rope.

Aries misses a dropkick off the top and Neville locks in the Rings Of Saturn. The challenger manages to reach the ropes with his legs for the break. The King of the Cruiserweights tries to lock in the Rings Of Saturn again but Aries rolls over, locking in his own version of the hold on the champion. Neville tries to grab the ref to DQ himself — much like he did at Payback last month — but Aries manages to defuse the situation.

They wrestle on the top rope as Aries locks in a guillotine. He breaks the hold and hits a Sunset-Flip Into A Powerbomb before rolling through into the Last Chancery submission. Neville drags himself out of the ring but he takes Aries with him — who manages to maintain the hold on the outside. Eventually, the champ taps out but as it's outside the ring, it doesn't count.

The challenger looks for a dive through the ropes but Neville moves out of the way, letting Aries collide with the floor.

  • Match Type: Fatal 5-Way Extreme Rules Match in which the winner will face Brock Lesnar for the Universal Championship at Great Balls Of Fire.

Finn Balor and Bray Wyatt square off as Seth Rollins takes on Samoa Joe. Reign struts round the ring confidently before he is confronted by Bray Wyatt. Wyatt lands a shot before he eats a Samoan Drop. Samoa Joe comes in from behind but also gets a Samoan Drop for his troubles. Balor tries and succeeds, sneaking out of another Drop attempt but gets punched in the face. And that leaves Rollins to take on his former friend.

Before the two can square off, Joe and Wyatt double team Reigns. Rollins comes to his aid, targeting his archenemy Samoa Joe. He then dives out onto him. Finn Balor takes down Bray Wyatt and begins to stomp him, keeping him out of the ring. He does the same to Samoa Joe, before he launches himself over the top rope onto three men outside. Before he can regroup, he is attacked by Roman Reigns.

The Big Dog works on Balor and attempts a Drive-By, but he's derailed by Samoa Joe, who intercepts him mid-flight. Joe and Wyatt double-team Roman, forcing him into the steel steps. Wyatt relaxes on the announce table as Joe prepares the steps. The two then ram the steps into Rollins, Balor and Reigns. They then work together, picking on Finn, who they roll back into the ring and assault in the corner.

They work him down for a little too long. Rollins eventually comes back into the equation but the two men work on him too. Wyatt takes him outside and hits a DDT on the steel steps. Balor takes control inside the ring, but Wyatt comes back in with a steel chair. He considers betraying Joe but instead attacks Finn with the chair. Wyatt places the chair on Balor and allows Joe to hit the big splash.

Reigns hits Joe with a Drive-By out of nowhere and suddenly takes over the entire match — much to the distaste of the audience. Reigns measures Wyatt for the Superman Punch but Joe drags him outside. The Eater of Worlds joins them and hits Reigns with the Urinage on the announce table. Suddenly, Seth launches himself over the rope onto Joe, and he takes on both men.

Rollins throws Wyatt out of the ring to join his partner and dives out onto them, but Wyatt allows Joe to take the attack, happily moving out of the way. Back in the ring, Seth works on Bray until Wyatt counters, hitting Sister Abigail on his attacker. He covers him but Joe breaks up the count and questions Wyatt about his actions earlier. Bray shoves him and the alliance is officially over.

As Joe locks in the Coquina Clutch on Bray, an aggressive Finn Balor returns and attacks the two men with a steel chair. Seething, he stomps Wyatt with the chair before delivering a Baseball Slide to to Reigns. He follows that up with a sick kick to the Big Dog which really connects. Balor then turns to Wyatt and Joe again, destroying the announce table and placing Bray onto it. But Joe locks in the Coquina Clutch and drags him away from the table. Suddenly, they are both Speared through the barricade by Reigns.

Rollins enters the ring and spies the wreckage before noticing the prone Bray Wyatt on the table. He climbs the rope and hits a Frog Splash off the top onto Bray, putting them both through the table. A "this is awesome" chant breaks out. Yes, WWE Universe. Yes it is.

Both Seth and Roman manage to crawl from their respective wreckages towards the ring. The two friends-turned-enemies-turned-friends-again have an epic staredown in the ring before they get physical. Rollins beats Reigns to the punch, landing a few hard-hitting forearms but his momentum is stalled when The Big Dog hits an uppercut.

But the King Slayer comes right back towards him. Reigns hits the Superman Punch for a near-fall. He goes for a Spear but Rollins counters, taking him down. The Man then hits a Frog Splash but gets a two-count.

Wyatt returns and tries to hit both men with Sister Abigail, failing twice. He eats a Spear from Reigns. Rollins attacks but eats a Superman Punch. Balor enters and attacks Reigns, but he runs straight into a sick Superman Punch. Roman readies himself for the Spear but ends up running straight into a Sling Blade from Finn. Balor climbs to the top rope and hits the Coup De Grace. He crawls to the cover, but at the two count, Samoa Joe re-enters the ring and locks in the Coquina Clutch on Finn, dragging him off Reigns and into the center of the ring. And in a matter of moments, Balor passes out in the hold.

All in all, the short match card ended up benefiting Extreme Rules. The less matches allowed the company to spend more time on the important ones. While some of the contests seemed unnecessary and didn't necessarily live up to their extreme potential, the show was still packed full of six entertaining matches that delivered.

With new Tag Team Champions, a new Intercontinental Champion and Samoa Joe becoming the #1 Contender, things have gotten very interesting for the red brand. Let's hope that RAW can follow the action up with strong storylines as we head towards .
