The night before Valentine's Day marked the "Festival of Friends" on WWE Raw. BFFs Kevin Owens and Chris Jericho had the chance to show their love for each other during the segment but Kevin Owens had something else in mind.
Owens used the celebration to turn on Jericho and break up one of the best WWE bromances in recent history. It got us thinking about other bromances that soured over time and rank the best of all time.
Check out our list of WWE bromances gone wrong.
10. Diesel & Shawn Michaels
During the mid-90s Shawn Michaels was in need of some serious muscle: Enter best friend and body guard "Big Daddy Cool" Diesel. Diesel and HBK were a perfect match until Diesel set his sights on the WWE championship. Their bromance turned heated feud propelled both men into main event superstars.
9. Hogan & Macho Man
In the late 80s there were none bigger than "Macho Man" Randy Savage & Hulk Hogan but their friendship turned sour quickly when Hogan overstepped his boundaries with Ms. Elizabeth. Macho Man soon grew angry and turned on Hogan in the name of love. Like many of the best bromances, the foil proved to be a beautiful woman.
8. Kurt Angle, Vince McMahon, & Stone Cold
Austin, Angle, and Vince McMahon made quite the triumvirate during the WWE's invasion program, but everyone knew it was just a matter of time before the bromance took a turn for the worst. McMahon and Austin were made to be mortal enemies, similar to Mortal Kombat's Sub-Zero and Scorpion, so it wasn't surprising to see McMahon use Angle as a buffer between him and Austin.
7. Owen Hart & Bret Hart
A literal bro-mance. Owen Hart & his brother Bret began as the best of friends and proved that nothing is stronger than a family bond. That was until Bret cost Owen a match at Survivor Series, and the brotherly love turned into a heated rivalry.
6. Triple H & Shawn Michaels
Does anything scream bromance more than a DX reunion? Triple H and Shawn Michaels teased a second run in 2004 but the moment was short lived as Triple H used the opportunity to nail HBK with a pedigree. These Kliq members went from friendly degenerates to enemies in the blink of an eye.
5. Kevin Owens & Sami Zayn
A lifelong friendship went from the indie wrestling scene to the zenith of NXT. On the same night, Kevin Owens made his NXT debut, Zayn defeated Neville to capture his first NXT championship. The two men celebrated in the ring following Zayn's victory, but the bromance was short lived. Owens turned on Zayn while walking up the ramp and rekindled one of the greatest pro wrestling feuds of the past decade.
4. Chris Jericho & Kevin Owens
Kevin Owens and Chris Jericho carried the Raw brand in 2016 and their bromance grew as time went on. Their "Festival of Friendship" segment was reminiscent of Mankind's birthday celebration for the Rock, but the finish was far from light-hearted. Owens finally showed the sinister side he had in NXT by demolishing Jericho on Raw. Best friends no more.
3. Eddie Guerrero & Rey Mysterio
Rey Mysterio and Eddie Guerrero's bond goes much further than their Mexican heritage. The two were brothers in and out of the ring, which is why the end of their bromance and their extremely personal feud was so shocking for fans. Wives, children and families were involved in this ex-BFF feud.
2. Seth Rollins, Roman Reigns, & Dean Ambrose
The heel turn no one saw coming. The Shield marketed themselves as the "Hounds of Justice" and as a brotherhood, which is why fans were so surprised to seem them disband after their huge WrestleMania 30 push. More so than the break up, Rollins' heel turn and backstabbing caught everyone by surprise. Ambrose always carried himself as the natural heel and wildcard, but Rollins proved to be the best choice for the turn.
1. Shawn Michaels & Marty Jannetty
The benchmark for double crosses in the WWE was set by Shawn Michaels. The Rockers were one of the best tag teams in the early-90s but Michaels wanted more and tag team partner Marty Jannetty was a casualty of his ambition. The barbershop segment is now infamous due to Shawn Michaels' super kick and his throwing of Jannetty through the plate glass window.
