Former UFC superstar and current leading man at Rizin, Wanderlei Silva had some words to say about fellow Brazilian, Jose Aldo.
"Aldo fights for honor, not money," Silva said during a Facebook Live video. The three-minute video was spoken entirely in Portuguese and was translated for Champions.co. Since I cannot be sure of the exact translation, I will paraphrase from what we can understand.
Aldo spoke out this week saying he wanted to leave the UFC and potentially retire from the sport altogether, after being passed up for a rematch with Conor McGregor for a third time.
Fellow fighters have been speaking out in support of the former featherweight champ, who went undefeated for 10 years before falling to McGregor.
Silva also said that he would be sad to see Aldo retire, and invited him to join Rizin. He says that the UFC has shown their lack of commitment to real, true fighters, and if things go bad with Aldo, Ronaldo "Jacare" Souza might be next.
He assures Aldo that the doors are always open at Rizin for him.
