It's only been a matter of hours since Ronda Rousey's return to the Octagon was made official, but the oddsmakers are already liking her chances of becoming champion once again.
Squaring off against current bantamweight champion, Amanda Nunes in the main event of UFC 207 on December 30th, Rousey is currently being listed as high as a -320 favorite by betting sites across the web. In terms of Rousey's career, however, the odds are actually the least favorable the former champion has seen since her first battle against Miesha Tate for the Strikeforce bantamweight title back in 2012.
When you consider just how outgunned Rousey looked against a striking specialist in Holm last November, it's certainly interesting to see her opening as a favorite against Nunes, who may lack what Holm does in terms of precision, but more than makes up for it in power. Nevertheless, oddsmaker, Joey Odessa claims that we may even see those odds widen as the fight draws nearer.
“Ronda Rousey is just over a 3-to-1 favorite (-320) in her recently announced matchup against current UFC women’s bantamweight champion Amanda Nunes,” Oddessa told MMAjunkie. “The truth is Rousey should be an even bigger favorite.”
Worth noting is the fact that Rousey will still be training with Edmond Tarverdyan, so Nunes might be worth a small side bet here.
