Just when you think the star power is light and the UFC is running out of options, GSP and the UFC work out their contractual issues. This is good, MMA fans. Very good.
Multiple sources have confirmed to MMA Fighting that both the UFC and Georges St-Pierre have agreed to terms on a new deal. The only thing to do next is sign on the dotted line and make it official with a Dana White smiley face tweet or something.
This comes on the heels of Michael Bisping stating the UFC was close to signing GSP, so maybe that's a possible matchup? Hmmm.
Who is he fighting and when will he return?
According to MMA Fighting, a fight hasn't been locked down, and the former welterweight champ (and welterweight GOAT) should be looking at the third quarter of 2017 for a return date. GSP turns 36 years old in May, and was rumored to be ready and willing to fight last fall, so the sooner the better.
He's made it clear that he wants to fight Michael Bisping, and even Anderson Silva is a possible competitor (after years of that superfight almost being made, this would be wonderful).
We wait for a confirmation, and write about what Floyd Mayweather and Conor McGregor had for breakfast or what Nate or Nick Diaz smoked for breakfast.
Enjoy a highlight of his greatness for now.
