Over the weekend, a well-fed Jon Jones returned to winning form in the main event of the grappling-only Submission Underground 2. The former UFC light heavyweight champion took on recently retired UFC legend Dan Henderson, submitting the former #Strikeforce and #Pride champ via arm triangle choke from the top.
Currently serving a suspension from the UFC after a failed drug test that forced the MMA superstar off the UFC 200 card, Jones won’t be able to compete for the promotion until July 2017. Thankfully, he seems to be utilizing his time off from the Octagon in a positive way, keeping active through events such as this one.
His suspension hasn’t stopped UFC stars from calling him out over social media for a grappling match, though.
Although pulling out of his rematch with #JacareSouza, former middleweight champion Luke Rockhold has called out Jon Jones for a submission only match up. Aiming for January 29 of the new year, a match up between Rockhold and Jones would be another great booking for #FloGrappling.
We’re all for anything that keeps Jon Jones active until his UFC return.
